Sabre de Pleiades

"In Sabre de Pleiades, Bernadette Y. Quander launches an expansive and thought-provoking science fantasy saga that spans galaxies, millennia, and dimensions of existence. Book One of The Ledger of Lemuel introduces readers to the richly imagined world of Moreipa in the Pleiades star system—an ancient, spiritually infused society where humans and ethereal beings coexist in complex, often volatile relationships.

At the center of this tale is Sabre, the son of a human woman and a spirit king, whose journey reveals deep themes of identity, loyalty, and the struggle between good and evil. What sets Sabre de Pleiades apart is the way it blends science fiction, spiritual allegory, and family drama. This is not just a space adventure—it’s a tale of heritage, betrayal, moral ambiguity, and the power of prophecy.

Quander’s worldbuilding is layered and original. Morepia is a place of elegance and danger, shaped by ancient codes, prophetic books, and evolving technologies. Readers are introduced to a cast of intriguing characters—Kenrath Red-Feather, the loyal friend; the mysterious stranger who seeks Sabre’s downfall; and Earthling Morton, caught in a transformation he doesn’t fully understand.

The prose is vivid and poetic, with metaphysical and symbolic depth. Quander gives care to language, infusing it with a mythic quality that suits the saga’s spiritual undercurrents. The shifts between Morepia and Earth are handled smoothly, offering contrast between the mystical and the mundane.

“Sabre de Pleiades is a visionary start to a larger saga—epic in scope, personal in focus, and rich in philosophical inquiry. Bernadette Y. Quander invites readers into a unique universe where identity is fluid, destiny is written in the stars, and even the smallest action may tip the balance between worlds. Fans of science with spiritual resonance, like Dune, The Left Hand of Darkness, or A Wrinkle in Time, will find much to admire in this masterful first installment.

As Book 1 of The Ledger of Lemuel, it promises even deeper revelations ahead. A striking debut to a series that dares to explore what it truly means to be human—or something more.”
